Roy in third place ahead of final round
fifth in the boys 13-15 age group of the Whirlpool Golf Tournament in Niagara Falls, Ontario which enters its final round today.
The three-day tournament sees Roy third in a field of 31 with a two-round score of 157, 10 strokes off the leader, Anthony Itaziano of Etobicoke, Ontario. Roy shot an opening round 79 on Monday and followed that up with a 78 yesterday.
Also aiming for a top five finish are Markey and Dunkley who are tied on 159.
Markey shot a 79 on the first day and 80 yesterday while Dunkle has scores of 81 and 78.
The next best Bermudians in this age group are Andrew Boyce and Mark Robinson who are tied for 11th on 162, while Anthony Smith is 14th overall on 163. Of the 31 players in this division, 10 are from Bermuda.
There are also eight local players in the field of 38 in the boys 16-18 age group where Charles Markey is fourth overall on 152, five shots behind the leader Matt Vanos of Delaware, Ontario.
Markey carded a 77 yesterday to go with his 75 on the first day. Matthew Durrant is seventh overall, three strokes back. He had rounds of 78 and 77.
Stephanie Lewis, the only local player amongst 19 from Bermuda, is third overall out of seven competitors in the 13-16 division after two rounds of 92 for a 184 total.
The final round is today and the players are due to return to Bermuda tomorrow.
