Biker crashed into Police car then cursed at officers
A Somerset man who swore at officers after colliding with a Police vehicle was imprisoned for using offensive words.
Lemuel Weeks, 28, pleaded guilty yesterday to using offensive words and refusing to give a breath sample.
Crown counsel Robert Welling told Magistrates' Court Police were on patrol near Stowe Hill on Tuesday night when they saw Weeks.
Officers followed Weeks as he rode east with a passenger along Harbour Road.
As the motorcycle reached Crow Lane the rider attempted a hard U-turn, causing the bike to collide with the Police car.
The passenger ran off but Police stopped Weeks.
He told an officer: "You f***ing b***h. F***ing bloodclot policemen.
"I know people. If you were cops in Jamaica, you would be dead."
The Police warned Weeks it was an offence to use offensive words.
He responded: "The judge needs a bullet. F**k the judge, the Commissioner and the Police."
Asked if he had been drinking, he told Police: "My s**t is all natural."
Yesterday Weeks apologised, saying that he was upset when the incident occurred.
"My brother got beaten the other day. That was on my head, and I was disrespectful. I'm sorry about that."
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner sentenced Weeks to six months' imprisonment for the offensive words, citing a history of violent offences.
"Clearly you are a man of violence," he said. "Now you're stopped for a DUI offence and you curse off at Police threatening to kill them."
Mr. Warner also fined Weeks $1,000 and banned him from driving all vehicles for one year for refusing to give a breath sample.
