Rec ready to host cup matches

Devonshire Rec is available for night matches again . . . and Bermuda Football Association have moved quickly to reschedule Friendship and Shield matches there.The ground’s unavailability while repairs were carried out on their lights delayed the release of the BFA schedule for the season.But news that the field is now able to host night matches promoted the BFA to switch preliminary matches in the competitions scheduled for November 10.Cougars, who defeated North Village in the Dudley Eve semi-finals last weekend and are set to meet the Rams again next weekend in the league, now have another meeting with their neighbours on November 1 in the Friendship Trophy. Somerset Eagles will play Young Men’s Social Club in the 7.00 opener.Dates have also been changed for the Friendship match between Dandy Town and Wolves which has been brought forward from November 10 to Sunday, November 3 at St John’s Field. Boulevard will meet X-Roads in a Shield encounter. The matches will start at 12.00 and 2.30pm.A Premier Division match has also been rescheduled for November 3, a clash between St David’s and Somerset that was postponed on September 29.A Premier Division match originally scheduled for December 8 has been brought forward to Saturday, December 7. That involves Somerset against Southampton Rangers and will be played at 8.00 at Somerset.Friendship and Shield quarter-final matches scheduled for December 15 will remain on the same date while the FA Cup preliminary round matches scheduled for November 3 have now been put back to November 10, the original date for the Friendship and Shield preliminary matches.Revised scheduleFriday, November 1(Friendship and Shield preliminary matches, from November 10)At Devonshire Rec: Somerset Eagles v YMSC, 7.00; Dev.
