Graham stalls Swifts

Cardinals scored early when Maria Pichery crossed for Kerri Graham who slotted home after being left unmarked.

Their second goal came when Laura Badgett ran down the left wing into the circle, bypassing three opposing players, before hammering the score.

Excellent goalkeeping from Jennah Robinson saved the Swifts from being three or four down. Although they rallied late on Kirsten Butterworth put the nail in the coffin with Cardinals third from a short corner.

Bluebirds A 0 Swallows A 2 Bluebirds marked their opponents tightly and made it difficult for their defence to distribute the ball to the forwards.

Swallows' pressure eventually told though when Cath Griffiths slotted home after a superb cross in the first half from Kirstie Kelly. Griffiths netted her second before half-time.

In the second period both teams had their opportunities but were unable to convert, the Bluebirds 'keeper making great saves.

Canaries B 0 Orioles B 3 A rejuventated Orioles team swept Canaries aside.

Georgie Adlam was first on the scoresheet, followed by Susie Elton, who scored an excellent goal from the edge of the circle. Zina Jones added the third.

Bluebirds B 2 Swallows B 0 Swallows' Sharon Quigley failed to gain a victory in her final game for the team. They began well and had some chances on goal but could not find the back of the net.

Bluebirds opened the scoring with Ellen Charnley netting. The ball appeared to be aided by her feet but the umpire allowed the goal to stand.

The second half saw Quigley move from sweeper to centre forward and after some fine play she thought she had scored, only for the umpire to call the game back for an earlier Bluebirds' infringement.

With play running from end to end, Charnley scored her second for Bluebirds.

Cardinals B 2 Swifts B 1 Cardinals early pressure forced Swifts goalkeeper, Christina Barnard to produce a good save in the second minute.

The rest of the half was evenly balanced with Swifts' Cathie Hay coming closest only to be denied by a great save by the opposite number one.

In the second-half Cathy Hertenstein gave Cardinals the lead, but Swifts equalised through with a penalty stroke converted by Erica Frith.

However with just a few minutes left Lise Baldwin gave Cardinals the victory.

The low point of the game came in the second period when a young Swifts player had to leave the field after being struck on the head in an incident described by the umpire as "stick twirling''.

NSC Rebels 4 BCS Panthers 0 In the Men's League, Rebels were transformed after a poor first-half showing, Kirk Edmunds scoring the first goal. Mike Elton hit the second after a great solo run from inside his own 25-yard line. The third came from a short corner, with Edmunds getting his second of the day and Jsaon Dennis rounded off matters with the fourth.
