banning publication of a third tape transcript from a major drug trial.

Lawyer Mr. Julian Hall MP is suing the Island's only daily newspaper for its publication in February of Casemates tapes that were used to jail Dexter Dillas in October for his role in a drug smuggling ring.

Mr. Kieron Unwin, lawyer for The Royal Gazette , said: "Mr. Justice Ward has today refused to discharge the injunction which he granted Feb 22 against my clients The Royal Gazette , restraining them from publishing the third transcript in the Dillas Case. He has continued the injunction until trial.

"This is a very disappointing result and, in view of the importance of the matter so far as it affects freedom of expression, one which I shall be seeking to challenge in the Court of Appeal.'' The injunction, names The Royal Gazette editor Mr. David L. White, The Royal Gazette Ltd. and Bermuda Press (Holdings) Ltd.

Two transcripts from the tapes were published in full in February after they were filed in the registry of the Supreme Court under the Supreme Court (Records) Act.
