Court hears man has an addition to stealing

A 26-year-old Smith?s man pleaded guilty to attempting to break in to a home yesterday in Magistrates? Court.

Wendell Lovell of South Road told the court that he has an addiction to stealing. ?I have a problem,? Lovell said. ?I have a compulsive desire to steal.?

The incident occurred on May 28, when Lovell was working on a painting job close to the victim?s home.

According to Lovell the desire to steal was too great to overcome. He was seen by a neighbour attempting to gain entry into the home.

He was unable to enter the home but he did damage an air conditioner, resulting in $60 in repairs.

A social inquiry report was ordered for Lovell by July 8 when he is to return to court for sentencing.
