Man denies slitting victim?s throat
A Pembroke man who allegedly slit a woman?s throat, assaulted officers and verbally threatened them will face a Supreme Court trial later this year.
Leonard O?Donnell Rayner, of Boss?s Cove, Pembroke appeared in Magistrates? Court in November and was charged with 15 offences.
On Wednesday he appeared at Supreme Court arraignments and pleaded not guilty to the charges, which related to events that allegedly happened on November 12, 2005. He was charged with breaking into a woman?s home and slitting her throat. After leaving the woman?s house he allegedly assaulted officers who tried to detain him and threatened another officer.
His diatribe allegedly included threats such as: ?Punk a** b**ch, if I ever see you with your wife I am going to cut her throat so you can watch her bleed to death?, and ?If you have any kids I will kill them too? as well as ?What if I get my hands on a nine millimetre, I will enjoy shooting you in your face.?
He will return to court in April.
Earlier in arraignments on Wednesday, Nikia Javon Burchall, 30, pleaded not guilty to assaulting Delphina Lodge on September 18 2005, with intent to rob. He entered the same plea to charges of destroying or damaging property ? a pink halter top and pink skirt ? and assaulting Alan Daniels on the same say. His case was adjourned to May 1 when it will come before the Supreme Court again for mention.
