Caines century leads Warwick
Opener Daniel Caines smashed 133 off the Hamilton Parish bowlers at Southampton Oval as Warwick romped to a comfortable 159-run victory.
After losing Trent Simmons with just nine on the board, Caines added 30 for the second wicket with Daniel Morgan before a further 148 came with Johnny Nusum for the third wicket. Of that stand Nusum put on 78 from five fours and four sixes and Caines then dominated an unbeaten fourth wicket stand of 72 with Orlando Taylor to reach his century.
The left-handed Caines stroked 14 fours and five sixes as few of the Parish bowlers caused him problems. Chris Caisey was the pick of the bowlers with two for 43 from 21 overs while Mike Burgess got the other wicket, though he gave up 92 runs in 19 overs in the process.
After an opening stand of 33 between Dennis Trott and Roderick Masters, Hamilton Parish lost wickets regularly and were quickly 66-6 as Johnny Nusum and Dudley Lightbourne, the fourth and fifth bowlers used by Warwick, did the damage. Lightbourne claimed six for 13 from 6.1 overs and Nusum three for 40 from 11.
Devonshire Rec 260-5, IYT 111 Lloyd Morrison also smashed a century as Devonshire Rec. bounced back from their defeat of Somerset the day before in the Knockout Cup with a resounding 149-run win over the International Youth Team.
After Dexter Smith (38) and Donald Norford (35) had given them a 76-run start, Morrison kept it going for Devonshire Rec. after both openers departed in the space of three runs.
His 100 came off 90 balls and in 205 minutes and the innings included eight fours and six sixes. Monroe Darrell was high man for the Youth Team with 32 while Travis Smith scored 29, the pair adding 38 for the seventh wicket as they recovered from 44-6 to 82-7.
Devonshire rout Youth Team Winston Trott and Anthony Amory, sharing the new ball, did the early damage for Devonshire as the Youth Team was quickly 14-4.
Trott finished with three for 24 off 13 overs and Amory two for 16 from 14 overs with nine maidens. Lloyd Smith and Omar Amory also both took two wickets.
Som. Bridge 34 Somerset 35-2 Somerset made short work of neighbours Somerset Bridge at Somerset Cricket Cricket, the game lasting less than two hours.
Tailender Denzil Dill scored almost half the Bridge runs (16) as openers Kenneth Maybury and Steven Mendes ran amok, taking seven wickets between them.
Maybury finished with four for 17 from nine overs while Mendes claimed three for nine off eight.
Mendes, also opening the batting, was then 16 not out as Somerset reached their target in just 13 overs. Dill claimed both wickets, for 17 runs from seven overs.
Flatts 243-5, Social Club 103 Neil Speight and Brandon Woolridge both scored 51, coming in a fifth-wicket stand of 94 to lead Flatts to a victory total of 243 against Social Club at Nationals.
The 140-run victory was completed by Gerald Sims' four for 20 and Woolridge's three for 32 as Social Club could only manage 103 in reply.
Also getting among the runs for Flatts were openers Gershon gibbons (43) and Andrew Richardson (41) who put on 76 for the first wicket.
Millard Bean contributed 24 before the team slumped to 117-4.
Dwayne Adams was high man for Social Club with 24.
