The long-awaited review of Bermuda's cruise ship policy will go before Cabinet for a second time, Tourism Minister David Dodwell announced.

The review had been put before the old Cabinet during its last meeting, said Mr. Dodwell.

But consideration of it was postponed and will now go before the new Cabinet "very shortly,'' he said.

Once the report was approved by Cabinet, he continued, it would likely be presented to members of the cruise ship industry for their feedback.

And once Cabinet had looked at it, he said he would go public with the report and it would be laid before Parliament.

GAS PRICES HEADING DOWN 1.1 CENTS EGY Gas prices heading down 1.1 cents The Finance Minister yesterday announced a decline in fuel prices.

Gasoline dropped by 1.1 cents per litre, diesel by 1.5 cents, and kerosene by 1 cent.

Consequently, the maximum retail price at the pumps for gasoline, diesel, and kerosene are $1.18 cents, $.92 cents, and $.72 cents per litre, respectively.

FISHING BUDDIES ATTACKED WITH STONES CRM Fishing buddies attacked with stones Two friends fishing were attacked by another two men who threw rocks at them, Police reported yesterday. Spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said the men were fishing from the rocks near the Clearview Apartments in Hamilton Parish.

Two men allegedly started shouting at them and then threw stones.

Mrs. James Barnett said a rock struck one of the men on the right side of the head, wounding him. Police inquires were continuing.

EX-CADDY ADMITS TAKING GOLFERS RINGS CRM Ex-caddy admits taking golfer's rings Unemployed caddy Vincent M. Pitt stole two rings valued at $10,000 from a female tourist as she played golf, a court was told yesterday.

Pitt, of Dundonald Street, pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing when he appeared before acting Magistrate Kim White.

Sgt. Phil Taylor, prosecuting, told the court that a visiting American husband and wife were playing golf at Castle Harbour.

The lady put two rings in her purse which she put in a handbag in a golf cart.

"At the end of the game she looked in the golf cart for her bag, but it was not there,'' added Sgt. Taylor.

Hotel staff and the Police were alerted and the area around the course was searched. Pitt, who was seen riding his pedal cycle earlier in the day, became the main suspect, said Sgt. Taylor.

Later the same day Pitt went to the Hamilton Police station where he reported finding the rings and was arrested on suspicion of stealing the rings worth a total of $10,000.

Mr. White adjourned sentencing for a social inquiry report. Pitt was released on $1,000 bail with a like surety.

MAN JAILED A WEEK ON DRUGS CHARGES CTS Man jailed a week on drugs charges Twenty-six-year-old Andrew Arorash was yesterday given a one-week sentence for possession of drug equipment.

Arorash, who is currently serving a nine-month prison sentence for other offences, pleaded guilty at Magistrates' Court to possessing a pipe and two miniature bottles of alcohol.

Sgt. Phil Taylor, prosecuting told acting Magistrate Kim White that last September Arorash was seen acting suspiciously and was stopped by Police on Court Street.

He was searched and the equipment was found. It later tested positive for cocaine. Mr. White sentenced Arorash to one week in prison to run after his current sentence has finished.

REGIMENT EXERCISE ALARMS RESIDENTS MIL Regiment exercise alarms residents A Bermuda Regiment training exercise caused concern among some residents in the western end of the Island on Wednesday night.

Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said a Hinson's Island resident reported to Harbour Radio that two flares were sighted from the Warwick Long Bay area.

A check with the Bermuda Regiment revealed the regiment had been using flares in an exercise on Warwick Long Bay.

MAN FINED $100 FOR HAVING CANNABIS CTS Man fined $100 for having cannabis A 37-year-old man walked out of Magistrates' Court $100 poorer on Thursday after he was fined for possessing cannabis.

David Tuzo of North Street, Pembroke was approached by narcotics officers as he was standing on Sentry Road in Pembroke.

The officers saw Tuzo throw a package and a homemade cigarette behind him as they drew near.

They searched him and found the package he had thrown away to be a yellow pay-type envelope and a brown paper twist containing plant material. They noticed the cigarette also contained .78 grams of cannabis.

Tuzo said the plant material was "weed'' which he had found.

POLICE TELEPHONE SERVICE IS RESTORED POL Police telephone service is restored Telephone lines to Police Headquarters have been restored.

Damage was caused when Cedarbridge sub-contractors cut through a length of underground cable earlier this week.

The computer service was also hit and has been partly restored.

Work is progressing on the remaining half so it should be back to normal shortly.

POLICE LOOKING FOR TRAIL DOG-WALKER POL Police looking for trail dog-walker P.c. Tempest-Mitchell would like to speak to a man who was walking his dog along the Railway Trail a few weeks ago.

The appeal from the Police officer concerns the attempted armed robbery of a woman who was walking there on Saturday, February 1 at about 8.30 a.m..

The man was walking a pit-bull type dog and may have seen the suspect either as he approached or left his intended victim. A man has been arrested and charged with the offence.

Anyone who can assist in this regard is asked to call P.c. Tempest-Mitchell at 234-5599.

WOMAN WAS KICKED IN FACE BY FATHER CRM Woman was kicked in face by father The Police are investigating two separate incidents of assault which occurred at opposite ends of the Island on Thursday.

A young woman said she was kicked in her face by her father after they had an argument at the Heron Bay Laundromat in the afternoon.

She was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with a swollen right cheek and has decided to prosecute.

That night officers went to a Cut Road, St. George's residence where a man claimed his friend had been hit by another man wielding a baseball bat. The suspect has since been arrested.
