JetBlue launches online route map

Travellers are being offered a helping hand when it comes to choosing a vacation destination.

JetBlue has launched new customer-focused features on its online route map that allow users to access to up-to-date weather information, travel tips and even photos from other fliers.

So if you want to get away but are not sure where to go, you can filter potential destinations to find beaches, exploration opportunities, romantic spots or family-friendly fun.

“Discovery is a huge part of the travel experience for many,” said Maryssa Miller, JetBlue’s director of digital commerce. “We’re excited to offer this new best-in-class experience that assists those people just thinking about a getaway, and asks the right questions to guide and present trip suggestions customised to their interests.”

New features of JetBlue’s route map include destination, weather and water temperature filters.

Once you select a place to go, you can explore its points of interest — what to do, see and eat — provided with Google Maps integration, plus photos and tips from fellow travellers via JetBlue’s unique SoFly sharing tool.

“These new features represent an incredible leap forward in the aviation route map space, even the travel industry overall,” said Andrea Azzolina, director of shared development services. “While many airlines simply present their destinations, at JetBlue we think searching for destinations should be part of the fun.

“We’ve taken the traditional map and incorporated Google Places and added links to our own social networking app, SoFly.”
