Temporary party stages are being put in Horseshoe Bay and Flatts Village this summer.

Bad weather delayed the opening party at Horseshoe last night but the show will begin next week featuring comedian and MC Bootsie, Gombeys, African dancers and a fiery limbo show.

Government was forced to back down from its bid to erect a semi-permanent stage in the centre of Horseshoe beach recently after it was found it did not have Planning permission, so the stage had to be dismantled.

Now the stage will be set to the side of the beach near the entrance.

Development Application Board chairman Robin Spencer-Arscott said the sides and top of the stage will be removed after every show to minimise its visual impact.

?It?s a good compromise,? he said.

Promoter Glenn Blackeney of Paradigm Productions said the show will run every Wednesday night starting from 8 p.m. until October 25 priced at $20 or $50 with food and drink.

Paradigm is also running the Flatts Village Festival ? a free family event featuring buskers from 7 to 9.30 p.m. on Mondays, starting next week.

Part of North Shore Road, from Four Star Pizza to the roundabout, will be closed and a stage erected.

Meanwhile, Mr. Blakeney said Paradigm?s interactive musical ?Tony and Tina?s wedding?, where the audience takes part in the show, is already proving a hit.

The play is running at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.
