The show, put on by the Bermuda Motorcycle Association, attracted hundreds of spectators who viewed the 100 bikes on display at Kindley Field Park in St.

David's yesterday.

Exhibits ranged from bikes from the 1940s and 1950s to more modern examples of Japanese technology.

Co-founders Mr. Eldon Trimingham III and Mr. Robert Pedro were delighted with the response after some early concerns.

Mr. Trimingham said: "The show was due to start at 10 a.m. but there was nobody there, probably because of the bad weather.

"Then around 1 p.m. the masses descended upon Ferry Reach and by 3 p.m.

they had disappeared again.'' He was delighted with the numbers in attendance as well as the fact that the bikes had come from many different locations.

"It was not really a complete show. I think we could have expected about 5,000 people and a couple of hundred bikes.

"But it has now become a regular fixture on the Bermuda calendar of events.

Bikes are part of the Island's heritage. We will run it every year on the same date, the Sunday after the Ag Show so people will know it is happening.'' SHOW TRIUMPH -- Mr. Stanley Burgess shows off his son Wayne's gleaming vintage Triumph motorbike which was one of the exhibits at the Best of Bermuda Motorcycle Show at Kindley Field Park yesterday. Thrilled by the show's success, organisers will now make it annual event on the Sunday after the Agricultural Exhibition every April.
