Home invaders brandished a firearm
Gun-wielding thugs forced their way into a Paget home while three people were home early on Wednesday morning.
At 12.30 a.m. Police were called to a Sylvan Dell Road, Paget residence and were told that two unknown men forced their way into the home, with one brandishing what appeared to be a firearm. The occupants of the house, a 42-year-old Paget woman, a 30-year-old Pembroke woman and a 20-year-old Paget man, were not injured. The offenders then made good their escape.
The Serious Crime Unit is seeking the assistance of any member of the public who may have seen or heard anything in the vicinity of Ord Road and Sylvan Dell Road, Paget, in the early hours of Wednesday between midnight and 1 a.m.
In particular, detectives investigating the matter would be interested in hearing from any member of the public who may have observed a dark coloured car that was seen in the area.
The main suspect is described as a light brown skinned male, approximately 5'7" tall wearing a red scarf and a hooded top or a hat; he is believed to be in his 20s.

This incident is the sixth home invasion where people have brandished guns or imitation guns this year. Here are the details of those incidents:
• August 11, 2009
Three men with what was a suspected gun broke into Devonshire home. One man restrained the housekeeper by the wrist, another aimed a gun at the homeowner's forehead. He then took her wallet and left the house.
The gang concealed their faces with bandannas and struck the property shortly after 3.30 p.m.
• August 18, 2009
A couple were forced to flee inside their home after being confronted by two men one thought to be armed as they sat on their front porch.
The men entered the yard of the house in Paget wielding what appeared to be a firearm.
But as they approached, demanding money, the 53-year-old man and 46-year-old woman ran safely inside the house.
The intruders however, then attempted to break into the property in Salt Kettle Lane, smashing a window in the front door.

Richard Gaglio was shot in the chest at close range by one of two hooded men who burst into his house on Hinson Lane, Smith's, demanding cash, shortly after 1.30 a.m. The thieves were hoping to take the loot from an underground gambling game Mr. Gaglio was hosting. However, they only left with $140. Originally Mr. Gaglio was described as nearly brain-dead by doctors but has since made a miraculous recovery.
• November 12, 2009
Thieves brandishing what appeared to be an imitation firearm attacked a 54-year-old man as he sat in the living room of his Paget home.
According to Police, intruders broke into a White Sands Road home around 10.15 p.m. demanding cash while holding what he believed was a firearm.
The burglars briefly assaulted the victim, with the offender brandishing the suspected firearm using it to strike the Paget resident until it broke. The suspects, described as two black-hooded men, then escaped on foot. Pieces of an imitation firearm were recovered from the scene.
• December 20
Three men burst into a Devonshire home with an alleged firearm and demanded money.
The robbery happened at 12.05 a.m. on December 20 at a Green Acres Road home and the men escaped with money.
