Seniors homes approved for Rockaway
The Bermuda Housing Trust (BHT) has received Planning permission to build 100 seniors homes at Rockaway.
The Development Applications Board (DAB) granted final approval with several conditions attached. For instance, roads must be wider than 12 feet and parking spaces for 100 cars should be provided.
It also advised BHT to provide sidewalks through the site to allow the public and residents of the Rockaway Condominium development easier access to the ferry dock. In October, BHT chairman Ronald Simmons said the project was to be built for around $12.5 million. There will be four housing ?pods? each containing 24 one-bedroom units.
Each three-storey pod has four arms each containing six units, with two units per-floor ? bringing the number of units to 96. Four more units will be built close to the junction of Sea Express Lane and Rockaway Road.
