IBM finds new Island partner

General Manager of Bermuda Computer Services Ltd. have said that both their businesses will be boosted by a new partnership forged with computer giant IBM.

Applied Computer Technologies, a local information systems solutions provider, has just been given IBM business partner status, and will now be responsible for the sale and service of IBM personal computers and printers on the Island.

Bermuda Computer Services will continue to market IBM e-server products and provide technology solutions to the Bermuda marketplace.

The move will allow Bermuda Computer Services to focus on its core business, which is now providing whole systems solutions for local companies.

Clive Yetming, dealer operations manager for IBM, said: "Approximately four months ago it was deemed that in order to best serve the local marketplace and allow our current partner, Bermuda Computer Services, to focus on its core compitencies, there was a need to identify a partner who had already established a successful hardware distribution channel. With this in mind ACT, BCS and IBM have entered into a new arrangement for the sale and service of IBM personal computer products in Bermuda.'' All warranty and maintenance duties have now been transferred to ACT, which is the largest volume provider of personal computer products in Bermuda.
