Man denies murder of tourist at Dockyard
Court yesterday and denied premeditated murder.
Leroy Elmer Eugene Burgess, 24, also denied robbing her of her knapsack and its contents.
Puisne Judge the Hon. Mr. Justice Ground remanded him in custody until October 5.
The body of Miss Herkommer, 28, was found at the Maritime Museum, Dockyard, on Good Friday.
Appearing with Burgess at the monthly arraignment session was Ross Noel Parsons, 21, charged with a list of more than 50 foreign currency offences, all of which he denies.
The charges, of making false statements and failing to offer foreign money for sale to an authorised dealer, relate to 26 occasions dating back to July, 1991.
Parsons, of Middle Road, Warwick, is on $2,500 bail and due to appear again on November 2.
Kingsley Owen Young, 22, of St. John's Road, Pembroke, pleaded not guilty to conspiring, along with other people, to import heroin on June 13. He also denied handling the drug, intended for supply.
David Mark Trott, 25, of Wellington Hill, St. George's, denied indecent assault and burglary, both allegedly committed against women on June 22. He and Young were bailed until October 5.
Former Bank of Bermuda officer Calvin Shabazz, who faces charges of stealing and false accounting, was remanded on bail until December 7. He is expected to go on trial next year.
One-time Olympic boxer Clarence Hill, who has admitted robbery, was remanded in custody until September 23, when he will be sentenced.
Well-known road runner Ronue McKindly Cann, who denies cannabis offences, was remanded on bail for mention on November 16.
