THE JOB with PATRICK WHITE
Age: 38
Title: User support technician, Bacardi International Ltd.
What is your job? My primary responsibility is to provide information technical (IT) support to all of our end users and to resolve their support requests in a timely and efficient manner. This includes, but isn’t limited to, installing, configuring and upgrading desktop PCs and laptops, installing and configuring Bacardi standard applications, BlackBerry rollouts, co-managing our IP telephone system, videoconferencing support and managing hardware updates to the network.
What is your favourite part of the job? My favourite part of the job is working in a global environment with cutting-edge technology. I also enjoy the many social activities Bacardi provides for staff, it’s a fun place to work.
What is your least favourite part of the job? I don’t really have a part of my job that I dislike, but if I had to choose one I’d say inventory.
What is your most interesting experience at work? So far, my most interesting experience was being selected on a team for our annual golf day that likes to dress up in ridiculous costumes. I dressed as Zorro, sword and all! Unfortunately it was rained out and the company arranged for us to go bowling instead. It was quite the spectacle in the middle of June dressed in a Zorro outfit outside of Warwick Lanes first thing in the morning. We had a lot of laughs though.
What would you be doing otherwise? Trader
