Jamaican judge expected to order Bulford?s deportation

A Jamaican court is expected today to order the deportation of Bermudian Kenith Clifton Bulford ? the prime suspect in the murder of student Shaundae Jones.

Bulford, 29, was arrested in Kingston on Monday and yesterday appeared in court in St. Andrew parish where he pleaded guilty to breaking immigration law and possession of cannabis.

Bulford (pictured) left Bermuda after skipping Police bail following the April, 2003 murder of Mr. Jones who was killed by a single shotgun blast to his chest outside Club Malabar in Dockyard in April.

Detective Sergeant Jubert Llewelyn, of the Jamaican police force, said Bulford had been remanded in custody.

He told : ?I am certain the judge will order his deportation.?

He was not clear how long Bulford had been in Jamaica or how long he had overstayed his welcome.

Last night the mother of Shaundae Jones said Bermuda Police were giving her regular updates about the inquiry into her son?s death and she said she had waited a long time and hoped justice would be served.

Bermuda Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said: ?The Bermuda Police Service is monitoring events in Jamaica with considerable interest.?

He said investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Crockwell was in close contact with his counterpart in Jamaica.
