Man admits damaging gas station window

A social inquiry report was ordered for a 43-year-old man who punched through a window at the Bermuda Industrial Union gas station.David Trott, of Ramgoat Hill, Smith’s, also admitted using threatening words to police on January 16.Yesterday he said he had been drinking at the time and that it was just “idle babble”.Crown counsel Cindy Clarke told Magistrates’ Court that the manager at the Dundonald Street gas station heard a crash around 1.14am and saw Trott outside.The manager found the cashier’s window broken.The manager checked CCTV footage and saw Trott punch the window and use his elbow to knock out the glass.Trott was arrested 15 minutes later at the Hamilton bus terminal.He told police: “You foreign cops can f**k off, I’m just trying to catch a cab home. I’m going to shoot you. You’d better watch your back.”Trott offered to pay for the window yesterday and told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo it would never happen again.Mr Tokunbo said: “How many times have you said that?”Trott was released on $5,000 bail. His sentencing was adjourned until March 9.
