Is a little peace and quiet too much to ask

Tranquil location: The waters surrounding Cambridge Beaches attract residents and their boats over the weekend

13 July, 2014

Dear Sir,

My wife and I are vacationing on your wonderful island, as we have before, and as we plan to do again.

Our experience is that Bermudians are courteous and considerate people. We choose to stay at Cambridge Beaches and enjoy the peace and tranquility generally found at the resort.

Weekends, however, are anything but tranquil. Local boats have moored close to the shore and played very loud music for hours on end, shattering the peace. Ironically, they have to shout to make themselves heard over their own music.

I understand that people want to party and music is part of their enjoyment. But why must they moor so close to shore - isn’t there somewhere else they could go? Are there laws about creating a nuisance in this way?

If not, there should be.

Kind regards

Neil Bennett
