St. David’s 62-2 beat Somerset Bridge 54 all out by 8 wicketsSt. David’s remain unbeaten in the league after an emphatic eight-wicket win over Somerset Bridge in a game lasting only two and a half hours.Justin Pitcher led the charge as he tore through the Somerset Bridge batting order, claiming remarkable figures of eight for 20 off ten overs.After fielding first, St. David’s were on the hunt for early wickets and Pitcher gave his side the perfect start, bowling openers Ezekiel Greenwood (2) and Dwayne Simons (3) in his second and third overs respectively, to reduce Somerset Bridge to nine for two off five overs.Pitcher then picked up two wickets in two balls in his next over as Bridge slumped to 19 four four.Jahnoi Bean-Wilson (15), the only Bridge batsman to make double figures, and Kevin Lambe (one) produced the highest partnership of the innings, putting on 14 for the fifth wicket, before Bean-Wilson was caught at mid-on off the bowling of Ricky Foggo (one for 27).Pitcher continued to torment the Bridge batsmen, bowling Lambe and Shawn Riley (0) in the space of three balls and knocking both batsmen’s middle stump out of the ground. Pitcher picked up his seventh wicket when he trapped Tristan Smith (three) lbw leave Somerset Bridge reeling at 43 four eight.Noel Woods (seven) and Clarence Trott (nine not out) put on 13 for the ninth wicket before Woods was caught and bowled by Rudell Pitcher (one for 10). Justin Pitcher then wrapped up the innings by bowling Anthony Tucker for a duck as Bridge were dismissed in 19 overs.The only concern in the bowling department for St. David’s coach Wendell Smith will have been the 16 extras his side gave away, 15 of which were wides.In reply, St. David’s wasted no time in chasing down the runs, reaching the victory target in just 11.1 overs.Opener McLaren Lowe batted through the innings, scoring 38 not out, while Loren Marshall scored 19 not out. Noel Woods was the only successful Bridge bowler, finishing with figures of two for 30 off six overs.
