Woman threatened knife attack

A Sandys mother of two has admitted she threatened to stab a love rival in the eyes with a knife.

Twenty five year-old Leslie Dill, of Lapsey Lane, pleaded guilty to having a bladed article in a public place without lawful excuse, using threatening words, and behaving in a threatening manner on January 16.

Dill said she “just snapped” after receiving abusive texts from her ex-boyfriend’s current partner Kendra Rogers.

“I’m going to kill you. You look like Yellowman,” Dill told Ms Rogers — comparing her to the popular Jamaican reggae artist — outside Bermuda Import and Export in Pembroke, before chasing her around the company warehouse with a six inch knife and threatening to stab her in the eyes.

The situation was diffused by the action of a co-worker who grabbed Dill in a bear hug and disarmed her, prosecutor Takiyah Burgess told the court.

Another co-worker quickly stepped on the knife, breaking the handle.

Police eventually arrested Ms Dill who then admitted the offences.

In Magistrates’ Court this morning, police media relations spokesman Dwayne Caines told the court he had been tutoring her for the GED exam with the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

“I know her as a mild mannered girl who doesn’t speak above a whisper,” said Mr Caines, adding that her actions were very out of character.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner adjourned sentencing until March 11, and released Dill on $2000 bail with one surety, under the conditions she stay away from Ms Rogers.
