Cannabis was found on an erratic bike rider

A Warwick man was fined $850 in Magistrates' Court after pleading guilty to possession of cannabis and committing two traffic offences.

Dean Pitt, 23, of Cedar Hill, admitted possession of 1.76 grams of cannabis, driving without due care and driving without a valid license all on February 27, last year.

Pitt had been ordered to appear in court at an earlier date and was recently arrested on a warrant for not showing up.

He was fined $500 for the cannabis, $100 for riding without a license and $250 for driving without due care.

Crown counsel Nicole Smith told the court that Pitt was arrested by Police on Burnaby Street, in Hamilton, at 3.35 p.m. after they noticed that he was driving erratically.

When officers searched Pitt they discovered a pack of rolling tobacco containing a clear plastic twist with plant material inside. Pitt later admitted that the twist contained cannabis in a taped Police interview later that day.

The plant material was later confirmed by a Government analyst to be 1.76 grams of cannabis.
