Ireland Rangers 2

(after extra time)

An early goal in each half of extra-time saw Ireland Rangers emerge two-goal winners in an undistinguished FA Cup first round clash at Bernard Park.

Sheroy Fubler broke the deadlock after 92 minutes when he blasted home a free kick to give Rangers a 1-0 lead and then when the teams turned around striker Jonathan Bean put the result out of reach for the home side when he slipped through a dazed defence to complete the scoring.

But the game never lived up to its billing as the match of the day - instead it had to be one of the dullest of the day with both teams proving to be inept up front without any shooting ideas.

Rangers held a slight edge in the opening half while Social Club came back to grab a greater share of the play after the break.

Goals should have come midway through the second half but Yusef Pitt hurried his shot over the bar for Rangers after 70 minutes while Nathan Simons headed over from just eight yards for Social after 75 minutes and Clay Darrell (who spent most of the game running offside for Social) had Nathan Darrell in the Rangers' goal diving full length to turn his free kick around the post.

The game was marred by the sending off of two players just before the interval, referee Richard Knight ejecting Social Club goalkeeper Clifton Hall and Rangers midfielder Curtis Grant for violent play after they exchanged blows during a Rangers attack.

Prospect 2 Lobster Pot 1

Commercial side Lobster Pot made their First Division opponents Prospect sweat it out at Police field with a goal by substitute Nigel Barker winning it for the hosts.

Barker had come off the substitutes bench just minutes earlier before having his first touch which led to the goal.

In a hard-fought contest Prospect took a 1-0 lead through Andrew Jackson's penalty after 27 minutes, but Pot continued to hold an edge over their opponents.

Pot poured on the pressure in the second half and should have scored twice.

They got a deserved equaliser through Kevin Ronaldson after 65 minutes when he converted a penalty but it was left for super-sub Barker to come up with the heroics to save the day for Prospect.
