Bank of Bermuda provides funds to feed the homeless
The Bank of Bermuda Foundation has donated funds to the Salvation Army which will be used to buy food and other necessities for Bermuda's homeless.
In addition to helping the homeless, another donation has been provided for the purchase of turkeys and chickens for families in need over the holiday season.
David Lang, director and secretary of Bank of Bermuda Foundation, said: "Homelessness is an issue that is increasingly impacting our community.
"Providing food and basic necessities to individuals in need is a cause that must be supported and it should be supported and sustained not just during the Christmas season but throughout the year.
"We understand the challenges that charities and organisations like the Salvation Army face when it comes to funding."
Every year the Salvation Army hosts a special Christmas meal for the homeless, serving a full turkey dinner.
Gifts containing necessities such as blankets and toiletries are also handed out to the guests.
Lionel Cann, community service worker for the Salvation Army stated: "Feeding the homeless is an ongoing issue because food is something everyone needs to survive.
"The Salvation Army offers a daily food service with an aim to provide meals to all those who really need it."
