Marine Police stopped the 25-year-old in Deep Bay, off North Shore Road, and discovered the boat was unregistered.

They also found there was no VHF radio on board, contrary to regulations.

At Magistrates' Court yesterday Amos, of Ord Road, Paget, pleaded guilty to both offences, which were committed on October 30 last year.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis said to Amos: "I suppose the edge was taken off all that joy at building your boat -- although not the whole edge.'' Amos replied: "I still had a heck of a party.'' Failing to register his boat had been an oversight for which there was no excuse, he said.

He added the vessel was now registered and fully equipped.

Mr. Francis fined Amos $50 on each count.

DRIVER FINED FOR DRUNK DRIVING CTS Driver fined for drunk driving Drunk motorcyclist Derrick Hart nearly ploughed into a Police car on his way home from a Christmas party.

Hart was almost twice over the legal alcohol limit, Magistrates' Court heard yesterday.

Prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said Police saw Hart riding erratically in Rosemont Avenue, Pembroke, during the early hours of December 19.

The 43-year-old laid-off hotel worker appeared to be travelling at an "excessive speed''.

Sgt. Grant added Hart then veered into Richmond Road, narrowly avoiding a Police car.

Tests showed Hart had 154 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

The legal limit is 80.

Hart, of Moore's Lane, Pembroke, told Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis he had just left a Christmas party.

"I was on my way home, and I remembered I had to pick up something from the gas station,'' he said.

Hart admitted driving while impaired and was fined $350 and ordered off the road for 12 months.

He was "promptly'' arrested and is expected to appear in court at a later date.

FLIGHT CANCELLED FLY Flight cancelled An afternoon Continental flight to Bermuda from Newark was cancelled yesterday because of bad weather conditions.

A Continental spokesman said low visibility caused by ice and fog led to flight 397's cancellation.

The 75 passengers aboard the plane were re-booked on another flight that due to leave today.

Passengers leaving Bermuda yesterday for Newark were put on other airlines.
