The 23-year-old Smith's Parish man told Police he surprised two burglars inside his home near South Shore Road and Collector's Hill.

The pair fled on motorcycles emptyhanded. But about two hours later, one of them returned.

When the victim opened his door, "the man lashed out at him with what appeared to be a small knife and cut his arm, which required stitches,'' Police said. The culprit fled.

Police said the man had reported the morning burglary before he was stabbed.
