Stevens-Carty storms into CAC and Carifta Games
Bermuda middle distance runner Henry Stevens-Carty qualified for both the Carifta Games and the CAC Junior Championships following an outstanding performance at the UK High School Invitational, in the US, at the weekend.
Stevens-Carty, representing Allatoona High School, came third in the 800 metres with a time of one minute 54 seconds 70.
The 17-year-old is currently ranked 5th in the US High School rankings and first in the Georgia State rankings.
In other overseas action at the weekend, Bermuda long jumper Tyrone Smith competed in the LSU Twilight meet and placed third with a leap of 7.56m.
Kijuan Wilkinson, competing for the Temple University, finished second in the triple jump (14.04m).
St. Augustines College's athlete, Chayce Smith, placed sixth at the Virginia Tech Challenge in a time of 1.52.86.
Alexis Bean broke a 19-year-old record for St.John's University's 4X800m team, and Tristan Joynes made it to the finals of the 55m hurdles finishing sixth (7.97). Competing in the USATF New England Indoor Track and Field Championships, Shaquille Dill came third in the 800m in a time of 1.55.85 which qualifies him for the CAC Junior Championships.
Alison Outerbridge finished second in the triple jump (11.82m), and Taylor Ashley Bean came fifth in the one mile run (5.25.03). Kyla Bolden, who attends Lawrenceville School, New Jersey, has been in fine form in recent indoor meets for the Big Red Girls team.
She came third in the 800m at both the NJISAA Championships (2.26.05), and at the MAPL Championships (2.29.86) where she was also part of the winning 4X400m relay team.
During the 2009-2010 season, Bolden has earned her varsity letters in cross country and the indoor 800m and 400m.
Dill, Outerbridge and Bolden have already qualified for the Carifta Games.
