Insurers drive BSX to all-time high

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index reached an all-time high on Friday as it closed the week up 138.602 points to close at 4,466.72,

During an active week of trading, Argus gained $1.60 to close at $14.50 as investors traded 6,246 shares and BF&M rose $1.50 to close at $18.50 on volume of 6,978 shares.

Butterfield Bank also rose $1.25 to close at $57 as 68,258 shares changed hands and Belco gained 90 cents to close at $39.90 on volume of 944 shares.

Bermuda Commercial Bank traded in 3,800 shares to close unchanged at $7.50, LOM was unchanged at $3 on volume of 10,000 shares and 800 Devonshire Industries changed hands to remain unchanged at $14.95.

Other issuers that were unchanged included: Masters Ltd. at $16 on volume of 7,000 shares; Bermuda Container Line at $14.50 on volume of 750; KeyTech at $12.50 on volume of 5,700.

The total value of the shares bought and sold on the BSX last week was $4,322,994.50 and the overall volume of shares was 110,476.
