The Bank of Butterfield dropped 25 cents to close at $33.25 on volume of 1,210 shares, driving the Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index down.

The Index closed down 3.5 points to close at 2,269.52 points on volume of 2,810 shares worth $60,555.

The bank's fall offset gains in Belco shares, up 25 cents to $30.75, and Bermuda Press, up 50 cents to a 52-week high of $12.
