Children's store Daisy & Mac has expanded its business empire by setting up a new shop in Dockyard.

It is the retailer's second satellite outlet, while its main flagship store will remain in Washington Mall on Church Street, Hamilton.

The new Dockyard location will stock a range of products, including infant and toddler clothing, sunglasses, gift items, baby care, educational and activity toys, infant travel gear, strollers and other fun items.

Store manager Kerrie Aubery said the store was looking to appeal to locals and tourists alike.

"We have opened in November so that Bermuda's consumers can take advantage of some fabulous Christmas shopping at our Dockyard location," she said.

"It will be a great alternative for those who like to do their shopping outside of the hustle and bustle of Hamilton."

Owner Dawn Zuill said that while Bermuda is facing an uncertain economic climate, Daisy & Mac continued to forge ahead and focus on the future, and believes that moving to Dockyard will prove a big success.

"We are confident in Dockyard and have faith that our community knows the importance of supporting local businesses," she said.

"When you consider the current economic climate, I admit that it is a risk for us to be expanding; however, I believe that Daisy & Mac has the formula which will continue to sell even amidst the conservative consumer spending that we are experiencing. We are optimistic and hopeful that the economy will pick up and we are investing in that hope."

Daisy & Mac products feature baby gear, nursing and feeding care items, clothing and footwear from newborns up to age 16, educational toys for all ages, linens and bedding, fun fashion accessories and much more. Brand names include Diesel, Lelli Kelly, Ralph Lauren, Boboli, My Boy Sam, Baby Bol, Caden Lane and Tuc Tuc.

Mrs. Zuill and her staff go on buying trips around the world in search of unique brands and specialty items. "We are very strategic about our buying," she said. "Our aim is to bring in the exciting new products, which ensures that our stock is always turning over and is unique.

"Distinctive collections of these one-of-a-kind items are what make Daisy & Mac special.

"In addition, we have branched out to our own private label 'Daisy & Mac' product line, offering an alternative to basic baby products which we currently stock.

"We stock these products in both our Hamilton and our Dockyard stores. We are very excited about this new arm of our business and we hope it will be well received.

"We want to encourage holiday shoppers to hop on a ferry and take a luxurious ride to beautiful scenic Dockyard for a relaxing day of shopping and maybe a little lunch."
