BA announces seat sale

British Airways (BA) has followed up on the success of last year's 70th anniversary autumn seat sale with its latest sale starting this month at just under $500 for a round trip.

The airline's 71st anniversary sale for travel originating in Bermuda to London was launched yesterday and runs until 12am on Friday September 19, while tickets must be booked seven days in advance of departure, with the first day of travel on Monday September 15.

Low-season round-trip economy class fares begin at $481 and are valid from October 23 to December 17 and then December 24 through to December 31.

There will also be a shoulder season round trip fare starting at $556 for travel between September 15 and October 22 as well as December 18 to December 31. Changes cost $200 and there is a minimum stay of one Saturday night and maximum stay of 11 months, while sale fare tickets are valid only for travel originating in Bermuda and are non-refundable.

Tickets do not include the $302 fuel surcharges (round trip) and taxes of approximately $150.

Marianna Wilcox, BA's Bermuda manager said: "Many local residents travel to the UK in the autumn for sporting events which this year include the football internationals for the 2010 World Cup as well as the rugby internationals.

"Cultural events showing in London include the 'Hadrian' exhibition at the British Museum, which will be followed by 'Babylon', and, with the dates of the sale this year, residents may easily travel to the UK and Europe for the Christmas holiday season."
