Logic has opened an “interactive” customer care centre as it prepares for a new era in telecommunication services in Bermuda. The new store is located on Victoria Street on the ground level of the KeyTech (BTC) building. Logic's former store on Burnaby Street has been closed.Speaking at the store's ribbon cutting yesterday, BTC CEO Lloyd Fray said the group is looking forward to having a “unified domestic licence” that will allow it to offer more services together.Proposed regulatory reform is expected to end the licensing system that restricts the services different companies can offer, paving the way for bundling together of Internet, voice, wireless and TV services.“There is no masking revenue is declining in the voice area, but there are other opportunities in terms of products and services we can offer in the future,” Mr. Fray said.He said there were a number of areas the group was interested in terms of Internet and TV content/entertainment.Both Logic and BTC are owned by KeyTech. Bermuda CableVision is an affiliate of KeyTech, while KeyTech and Atlantic Tele-Network own about equal stakes in wireless provider CellOne.“BTC has been here for about 120 years, and we will continue to serve the public, but there is also a need for de-specification,” Mr. Fray said.Diana Winfield, Logic's head of marketing and customer operations said, “The opening here on Victoria Street allows us to showcase new technologies and services not seen on Island, they are designed to educate and delight our customers.“It is a very modern space with interactive services. Customers can graphically see the effect Internet speed has on the services they use like movie downloads, picture uploads and Internet video chatting. This allows our customers to select the package that suites their needs and usage patterns.”She added: “As we have the main office of Logic in the KeyTech building it made sense to bring the customer care centre under the same roof. This way we are able to provide superior service for our customers and have a better support team for our customer care representatives.”Other interactive features included a new learning centre where customers can book an appointment to come in and be taught how to open an e-mail account, send and check mail and how to pay their bills on line. And the “Eye Step” interactive game reacts to customers walking across the floor while the “Eye Touch” store window video screen allows customers from outside to touch the screen and select the information they want.To celebrate the opening customers can play a spin-the-wheel game where they can win a selection of Logic products and other prizes.Contact information for Logic's new store will remain the same but the hours will change.New opening hours are Monday through Friday from 8am until 6pm; the store is closed Saturdays.“Our Customer Call Centre is still available to assist those needing assistance outside of regular business hours and is open on Saturdays from 9am until 5pm,” Ms. Winfield explained.KeyTech's revenues for fiscal year 2009/10 increased $1.5 million to $107 million due to growth in data and cellular revenues that exceeded declines in fixed-line voice revenue.KeyTech's profit for the financial year was $6.3 million, down $4.2 million over the prior year due to both a significant decline in the net income from BTC's fixed-line voice business - and a $2.1 million decline in value of a holding of Butterfield Bank shares.
