Traffic advisories for Peppercorn Ceremony and the Ag Show
The annual Peppercorn Ceremony will take place at King's Square, St. George's on Wednesday.
A 17-gun salute from Ordnance Island at 10.55 a.m. will begin the historic event with Governor Thorold Masefield and party expected to arrive by landau three minutes later.
Gov. Masefield will be met by Mayor of St. George's Lois Perinchief and Lt.
Col. Patrick Outerbridge, the Commanding Officer of the Bermuda Regiment.
After the Governor's inspection of a Guard of Honour furnished by the Regiment, Mrs. Perinchief will give an Address of Welcome.
Gov. Masefield will then reply and the members of the Corporation of St.
George's will be presented to his excellency.
And promptly at 11.10 a.m., the Master of Freemason Lodge 200 will present the annual rent of one peppercorn for the State House to the Governor.
Rev. Ewen Ratteray, Bishop of Bermuda, will then offer a prayer and pronounce a blessing on the meeting's deliberation.
And at 11.15 a.m., the Officers of Lodge 200, Mr. Masefield, Premier Jennifer Smith and the Members of Cabinet will enter the State House.
In lieu of the event, Police have issued a traffic advisory for Wednesday.
King's Square will be closed from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and there will be no vehicular traffic allowed between 9 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.
There will also be no parking on Water Street, Bridge Street, King Street, Hunter's Wharf, Ordnance Island, and behind the Town Hall building for the same period.
Police have issued a traffic advisory for the 62nd annual Agricultural Exhibition this week.
The following changes will be in effect between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Berry Hill Road in Paget will become a one-way road with traffic flowing in an easterly direction between the junction of Camden Road, Paget and Tee Street in Devonshire.
The public will be able to gain access to the exhibition via the west gate on Point Finger Road. It will be an entrance and exit for pedestrians only while the southwest gate on South Road will be used by staff vehicles only.
The service entrance on South Road will be an entrance and exit for equestrians, trailers and Department of Agriculture vehicles only.
The public may use the south gate on South Road and the North Gate off Berry Hill Road an entrances only. The southeast gate off South Road will act as an exit only.
And the north gate on Berry Hill Road will be an entrance only for pedestrians, cycles, cars and catering trucks.
A Police spokesperson said there will be no parking along South Road between Point Finger Road and Tee Street and the entire lengths of Tee Street, Point Finger Road and Berry Hill Road.
Invited guests, the elderly and sick may park in the reserved car park. And cycle parking will be behind and to the west of Camden House.
Departmental staff should park in the parking lots of the main offices.
A temporary Police Station will be housed on the grounds in the Emergency Command Vehicle and the St. John's Ambulance Brigade will be in the car park southeast of the main ring.
