Burglar, 21, imprisoned
A 21-year-old man was jailed for a year yesterday after admitting a string of burglaries, including a break-in at a school.
Devon Kenneth Smith pleaded guilty at Magistrates? Court to breaking into Spice Valley Middle School, Warwick, on December 22, 2002 and stealing a TV.
He also admitted burgling $1,600 worth of clothes from DC&C Boutique, Middle Road, Southampton, on December 23, 2002; breaking into a home in Constance Crescent, Warwick, and stealing $500; breaking into a home in Trelawney Lane, Pembroke and stealing $100 and a pair of diamond earrings and breaking into a house in Southampton, with intent to steal.
Smith, of no fixed abode at the time of the crimes, asked for five other matters to be taken into consideration.
They included another school break-in and several burglaries.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner gave him five 12-month jail terms, to run concurrently. They will begin after he completes a 12-month prison sentence he is currently serving.
