Civil servant to be sentenced today

An Immigration officer who admitted stealing more than $100,000 from Government will be sentenced in Supreme Court today.

Jameal Joanne Woods, of Cocoa Lane, St. George?s pleaded guilty earlier this year to fraudulently obtaining $104,000 from the Department of Immigration between September 1, 2002 and April 13, 2004.

Also being sentenced today is Tonia Lavette Davis 34, of New York who pleaded guilty in Supreme Court on Wednesdays to importing cannabis on July 7. She pleaded not guilty to possession with the intent to supply. Crown counsel Oonagh Vaucrosson asked for the second count to remain on file.

Rhonda Yvette Miller, 31, of Long Beach, California was originally on the same indictment as Davis but was discharged from the indictment on Wednesday after Davis pleaded guilty to importing the drugs

Deon Sheldon Pitcher also appeared in Supreme Court on Wednesday for drug related offences.

The 21-year-old St. George?s man previously pleaded guilty to growing cannabis and possessing the drug with the intent to supply. He also pleaded guilty to possessing drug equipment and obstructing Police. He too will be sentenced today.
