Canadian man is fourth to be charged in multi-million dollar drugs case
A fourth person was charged in relation to an alleged multi-million dollar drug importation scheme involving foreign nationals.
Peter Sagos, 35, of Ottawa, in Ontario, Canada, is charged with conspiring with Andrew Blatchley, Jeannie Harden, Edide Plourde and persons unknown to import into the Island the controlled drug cannabis.
Sagos was not required to enter a plea yesterday as the matter is indictable only and will have to be heard in the Supreme Court, and did not speak during his time in Magistrates' Court. He is represented by lawyer Kenville Savoury.
His alleged co-conspirers Blatchley and Harden, both 58, of Great Oak Drive, in Charleston, South Carolina, and Plourde, 68, of Boul de Maisonneuve, in Quebec, are also facing the same charge they appeared in Magistrates' Court on Tuesday. Blatchley and Harden alone are facing a charge of money laundering proceeds from drug trafficking; they are represented by lawyer Peter Farge; Plourde is represented by Llewellyn Peniston.
All four foreign nationals have been remanded in Police custody and will appear back in Magistrates' Court for mention on October 20.
