After the start of the race a flurry of protest flags were hoisted by Timmy Patton, Stevie Dickinson and Adam Barboza. Racing continued with winds gusting 12 to 14 knots from the northwest on the six leg windward/leeward course.

First to finish was Barboza, followed by Brett Wright, Bill McNiven and Dickinson. After that it was Hugh Watlington, Derrick Ratterey, Martin Purser, Steve Hannon and Grahame Tremlett. Trailing in the bottom half of the fleet Patton was forced to withdraw, but that did not prevent him from lodging one of the protests.

The protest committee eventually disqualified Barboza and Dickinson for rule infingement at the start.

The second race, on a four-legged short windward/leeward course, saw the winds easing off and shifting 75 degrees to the north and produced some of the most exciting racing of the day.

Ratterey led for most of the race but was piped at the post by Patton, the eventual winner. After that it was Wright, Barboza, Dickinson, McNiven, Hannon, Watlington, Purser and Tremlett.

TARGET SHOOTING SHO Carl Reid maintained his superiority by accumulating a total score of 196 out of 200 at the Coral Reefs Rifle and Pistol Club on Wednesday. Eugene Robinson was in second place with a score of 195.

ROAD RUNNING RUN The course for Sunday's Athletic Club 5-K will remain the same as in previous years, a spokesman for organisers Hamilton Harriers said yesterday.

It was originally planned for the runners to go over Sunset Pass, but to avoid potential hazard with that road in bad condition, the course will see the runners go up to Admiralty House and turn left on St. John's Road.

The race will start near St. Theresa's Church and finish at Victoria Park.
