Dudley Eve delayed

Town Premier Division affair has forced Bermuda Football Association to delay the start of the Dudley Eve Trophy tournament.

An electrical fault that caused a black-out on one of the light poles at St.

John's Field left referee Anthony Mouchette with no option but to call off the match at half-time, with part of the pitch in darkness.

It was a failure that came despite determined efforts by the club and Belco during the week to have the lights in good working order.

The result -- or lack of one -- and the need to have both teams complete seven matches before the holiday tournament can take place, means that Town and Village will make another attempt on Tuesday night to play the game, with the new venue being BAA Field at 8.30 p.m.

And, in order to allow the teams -- particularly Village, who have already qualified -- adequate rest before beginning play in the Dudley Eve Trophy, the first round doubleheader will now be played next Saturday night at BAA, as opposed to Thursday.

The rest of the tournament schedule remains as originally planned, with the second round on Boxing Day.
