Police confirmed the bus driver's brake failure allegation yesterday. The accident occurred west of Tee Street on South Shore Road in Devonshire. at about 10.35 a.m. on Monday, a Police spokesman said.

He said the crash was still under investigation.

There had been no passengers on board at the time.

The Royal Gazette understands from a source close to the accident that Police also investigated other buses in the Bee Line fleet to see if they were road worthy.

But Bee Line manager/owner Mr. Harrison Simons denied the claim. He added, "There have been no orders to take no buses off the road.''
