Pembroke Samaritan robbed

A GOOD Samaritan had a narrow escape this week when she rushed to the aid of a 15-year-old Saltus Grammar School student who was being attacked.

The victim, a 36-year-old Pembroke woman was leaving the school grounds on Wednesday when she saw a student being assaulted by an unknown man - not in school uniform. Police say the woman shouted to the assailant to stop, but he continued to punch the student until he fell to the ground.

The suspect continued kicking the victim about his head and body before walking away from the premises with three other young men. The Pembroke woman called 911 on her cellular phone to report the matter and followed the young men on foot as they left via Canal Road. Police reported that the men looked back and apparently realised what she was doing and chased her.

She turned and ran, falling in the process, but quickly got up and made good her escape, leaving her red duffel bag behind in the process.

The main suspect, she later reported, stopped, picked up her bag and removed a Black Berry hand held device and pink purse containing $80 in cash before fleeing the scene on foot with his three accomplices.

The student who had been beaten, a Sandy's parish boy, sustained facial cuts and abrasions and was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital before being released.
