Redknapp's wedding day.

The news made the headlines in most of Britain's national papers. And a group of news-hungry reporters and photographers arrived in Bermuda to follow events.

They even hired a boat to follow the wedding yacht -- and their 20-foot speedboat tore around Hamilton Harbour and the Great Sound, carrying three photographers eager to catch a glimpse of the pin-up couple through their long lenses.

A reporter working for The Sun, the biggest-selling daily newspaper in the English-speaking world, and a photographer from Miami hired the boat eager to get the exclusive.

A paparazzi photographer from a Paris picture agency jumped aboard with them.

But the anxious wedding guests, keen to stop the glare of publicity focussing on the happy couple, tried their best to keep the speedboat at bay.

The boat was even boarded by Marine Police, who carried out a routine safety check after being alerted to its movements.

Meanwhile, reporters and news editors from London and Liverpool, where Jamie plays football, bombarded our newsroom with calls, eager to catch up on the news.

It was first told by The Royal Gazette -- in a world exclusive -- on June 5.

Annette Witheridge, a New York-based freelancer working for The Sun, said: "This may not seem like a big deal to many people in Bermuda. But in England, Jamie and Lousie are super-famous.

"They're the ultimate pin-up couple. Everybody loves them both. Everywhere they turn, they're the centre of attention. Jamie, who was unlucky not to play in the World Cup, is sometimes even better known for his fashion modelling.

"Louise is on the front cover of every popular magazine. This is one of the biggest celebrity stories this year, especially with them getting married in secret on such a beautiful Island.'' Jamie has eight caps for England and Louise, who quit British girl band Eternal, was a chart-topper in the UK with her "Naked'' album last year.
