Leila promoted to vice president of ABIR

Promotion:Leila Madeiros

Leila Madeiros has been promoted to vice president and corporate secretary of the Association of Bermuda Insurers & Reinsurers.

Bermudian Mrs. Madeiros has served as assistant director and corporate secretary for ABIR since May 2006.

"ABIR is fortunate to have such a talented, dedicated professional on its staff. Her specialty knowledge of insurance regulation; and her established relationships with key Bermuda and international policymakers are invaluable to the association," said Bradley Kading, president and executive director of ABIR.

"Her hard work has helped ABIR achieve objectives which allows our Bermuda based companies to build their businesses here. This promotion recognises her excellent work and reflects the high regard in which she is held by the board and myself."

Prior to joining ABIR, represents 23 Bermuda Class 4 insurers and reinsurers, Mrs. Madeiros was deputy director of the policy, research and communications Department of the Bermuda Monetary Authority.

She was with the BMA between 2002-2006 and the Registrar of Companies Department 1992-1996.

Prior to becoming an insurance regulator, she developed her insurance expertise working at Heddington Insurance Limited in Hamilton and London.

Mrs. Madeiros, 46, lives in Smiths and holds a Bermuda Insurance Diploma plus an MA from Webster University, Bermuda, and a BA from Cedarville University, Ohio.

She is married to Government conservation officer Jeremy Madeiros. The couple have two children, Seth, 12, and Elizabeth, eight.
