There was a showdown at Warwick Lanes over the weekend as the top two sides in the Barritt's Sportsmen's League squared off.
In what was described as a "titanic battle'', first placed Buy & Sell got the better of number two Pembroke Juniors 161 -101 to hold onto the league lead.
While it took a good team effort on the part of the winners, one member stood out as Steve Paul notched the third high individual game and series -- 233 and 583 - in helping his team to a high series of 2,667 and second high game of 926.
Juniors, too, performed admirably, rolling their way to the high team game of 951 and second high series of 2,637, as Antoine Jones paced their attack with a 630 series and 233 game.
Third placed Sparks improved their position by seizing a 22-5 triumph over Youngblood.
Meanwhile, Mini Forwarders saw the tables turned from a week earlier when they had been the spoilers of higher ranked competition. This time Social Club edged Forwarders 151 -111 , despite Chris Leverock turning in a fine performance that had him top the list in both the individual game and series categories -- 244 and 640.
The remaining match saw Warwick Whites blast sister side Warwick Reds 23-4.
No matches are scheduled for this week. Play will resume on February 25 at Warwick Lanes.
CYCLING CYC Bermuda Bicycling Association continue their build-up to the start of the new season with two fun events taking place this Sunday.
Both mountain bike and road sections of the association are set to stage fund-raising rides.
The road racers will raise funds to assist local riders' participation at overseas events, while money raised by the mountain bikers will go towards the St. John Ambulance Brigade.
The adult road racers -- novices, seniors and veterans -- will embark on a 100 mile trek, while juniors will take in distances of 10, 25 or 50 miles.

Riders will start from the Flagpole on Front Street at 8 a.m., where refreshments will be offered.
Meanwhile, the off-road competitors have their event starting at The Southampton Princess Hotel, before heading along the railway trails and then to The Hamilton Princess before turning around and finishing back at The Southampton Princess.
Riders of all abilities are welcome to take part.

SOFTBALL SOF Winter Commercial Division softball play on Wednesday evening saw Ernst and Young beat Robin Hood 13-3 behind the pitching of David King. Peter Smith took the loss.
Top hitters for Ernst and Young were Ken Engler, Erik Olson and David King who each went three-for-four while Peter Smith went two-for-four.
BF&M hammered Bobcats 24-9 with Allan Winston going four-for-four and Danny Soares going three-for-four with a homer. Dan Moyes and Kevin Curtin went three-for-three for the losers.
BNTB edged Team Fashions 18-17 with Scott Pitcher and Joe Terceira each getting four hits. Chris Montgomery and Martin DeSilva had three apiece for the losers.
DARTS DRT BAA Whites are the new Helen Flood Memorial champions after soundly defeating Mariners 3-0 in the final.
Such was the domination of the new cup holders that they lost just one leg out of three matches as they swept through the field.
After receiving a bye in the preliminary round, Whites downed BPSA 3-1 and followed this with consecutive 3-0 whitewashes over BAA Greens and Mariners in the semi-finals and final.
Mariners, meanwhile, got past EEMYC (3-1), Moonglow (3-1) and Hamilton Parish (3-2) to reach the final.
SOCCER SOC The Tony's Pizza Trophy match between Butterfield & Vallis and Elliott Street Deli will be held at Devonshire Recreation Club next Thursday (8 p.m.).
