Move to calm chicken recall concerns
recalled cooked chicken products being sold on the Island.
In an advert in today's Royal Gazette , the company explains that three of the five Tyson brand products in question are sold in Bermuda, Southern Style Breast Tenderloins, Buffalo Strips, and Crispy Strips.
They also explained that it was a voluntary recall, which is one that is conducted by the manufacturer, and does not reflect a directive from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Tyson has stated that the products may contain pieces of chicken that were inadvertently folded or are excessively large and may not be fully cooked as the label states.
The advertisement also says that contrary to the ZBM evening news broadcast on Tuesday, no packages of Tyson Chicken involved in the recall were found to be on sale as stated.
Butterfield and Vallis have further assured the public that the products in question have been withdrawn from local shelves, and they apologised to customers for any inconvenience.
