Stephen Thomas Bean, of Horseshoe Road, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to possessing .53 grams of cocaine and drug equipment.

Police on duty at Well Bottom, Southampton, on October 17 saw a white truck parked at Webb's Garage, said prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy.

They saw a man jump out of the truck and run off as they approached.

Police also watched Bean get out of the truck and throw away something.

As officers searched Bean, who said he worked at the garage, a pack of cigarettes dropped to the ground.

Insp. Duffy said a plastic twist was found in the pack.

A further search of the truck also turned up a plastic tumbler with foil attached to it.

The twist contained .53 grams of cocaine with a 57-percent purity rate, Insp.

Duffy said. And the tumbler had traces of cocaine.

Bean, who did not have previous drug convictions, said: "I gave this guy a lift. It belonged to him, even though it was in my possession.

"I guess I'm responsible. I can't find the guy it belonged to.''
