'Machete attack, bus hijack' under investigation
Police are investigating a suspected machete attack on a man in Hamilton parish but said yesterday that details were "very sketchy".
A spokesman would say only that an incident happened in an eastern parish on Wednesday afternoon and that an off-duty bus was involved. He said it was being actively investigated.
"It appears that there was some sort of altercation between one individual and a group of individuals. The details are very unclear.
"It appears that the suspect attempted to use a bus that was not in service. Apparently it was supposed to be going to the garage, Police apparently did apprehend some of the suspects and inquiries are under way."
Television news reported on Wednesday that a man was chopped in the head by two other men who then hijacked a bus to get away.
The ZBM report said the bus had no passengers on it but one person may have been on board. A Public Transportation Board spokesperson was quoted as saying that the bus was being driven to the garage by a maintenance man at the time.
The incident is believed to have happened at Crawl between the MarketPlace store and the gas station.
No one from PTB could be contacted for comment.
