E-biz forum at Chamber tomorrow

Members of the community are invited to participate in a forum on E-business tomorrow morning and are being encouraged to take part in upcoming seminars, jointly organized by the Department of E-commerce and the Chamber of Commerce.

Tourism, Telecommunications and E-commerce Minister Renee Webb is encouraging local businesses and members of the public to use the forum to comment on the Green Paper on E-business that her Ministry has produced.

"Given the growing importance of E-business to all of us in Bermuda, whether at work, home or school, it is only right that the Government give everyone the opportunity to comment on the Green Paper,'' Ms Webb said.

Ms Webb said the forum will be the first of at least two held on the subject. "Participants will have the opportunity to hear about the objectives of the Green Paper and why it was brought forward,'' she said. "They will also be able to ask questions about our E-business strategy and to offer comments on the 60 or so recommendations.

"The feedback from this public forum and a second evening meeting we intend to hold at a later date will help us to develop an action plan on E-business that I intend to present to Parliament later in the year.''

The forum will take place at the Chamber of Commerce, next to the ferry terminal, from 8.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Anyone interested in attending should contact Fiona Roberts at the Chamber on 295-8932.
