The street fest -- free of cost -- will also feature several live singing acts as well as dancers.

Court Street will be closed off from the junctions with Dundonald Street and Elliott Street while performances takes place in the parking lot across from the Spinning Wheel night club.

The evening will also include presentations on the history of Court Street establishments and great Bermudian blacks.

From 7.30 p.m. to 11 p.m. different styles of music, including gospel, rap, reggae, and oldie goldies will be sung by different groups such as His 'N Hers, Lady Tyson, Carol-Ann Williams and Cross Culture.

Gombey dancers will also be on hand along with the rhythmical movements of the Dynamic City Rockettes.

"All the businesses on Court Street have helped to sponsor the fest,'' said co-organiser Mrs. Gina Bean. "They are excited that we are bringing people here.

"There is a certain stigma attached to Court Street and we're trying to change that. We want people to know that there is nothing to be afraid of when going to that part of town.'' Mr. Kevin Bean added: "People tend to think that Court Street is a bad area, but it's people from the outside that bring the trouble in.'' The street fest is a continuation of Gina Spence Productions off-season community work.

The company has performed at the Prison Farm and Casemates, and most recently put on a show for patients and staff at Agape House.
