Montreal's Jonathon Power defeated John White of Scotland in a five-game marathon Friday to advance to the final of the Bermuda Masters Pro Squash Association event.
Power, the No. 6 seed, defeated White 11-5, 13-15, 11-8, 10-12, 11-4. White was the No. 12 seed but was the top-ranked player in the world at this time last year.
Both players went five games in their quarter-final matches on Thursday.
"I knew it wasn't going to be easy," said Power. "But I made him do a little more work throughout the match and it worked out. In the last game he didn't have as much left as me and I was just hanging on.
"But this is a huge win for me."
Power, who defeated world No. 1 Thierry Lincou of France in the quarter-finals, will play world No. 2 Lee Beachill of England in Saturday's final. Beachill advanced with an 11-9, 11-6, 11-8 victory over compatriot Peter Nicol.
Power, 30, credits his fitness for his success this week.
"My movement is strong and physically I'm wearing the other guys down, which is usually not my style."
The competition is the richest tournament on the PSA circuit this year with $120,000 US up for grabs.
